In fairness to Steve Arloff, he probably looked it up in the Guinness Book of Records, which has Brian's as the longest. That other great source of unimpeachable fact, Wikipedia, has Romanian composer Dimitrie Cuclin's 12th Symphony as lasting six hours.
Anyway, we can all agree that any and all of these are only the longest symphonies anyone knows about. There could easily be a longer one out there somewhere, unpublished, unloved, unfinished...
