I think the problems lie more with the airless nature of the recording than with the orchestral playing per se, but I did note that the balance was far from ideal (with a largish body of strings effectively drowned out in important places by the over-emphatic brass). But this orchestra deserves credit for stepping in to premiere a symphony that had been comprehensively ignored elsewhere, since the score had been available for performance for ten years. You can tell this is not a professional orchestra, but if their performance whets the appetite for a recording by a major orchestra then the players and conductor deserve to be congratulated.
