The legality of their presence on youtube is rather questionable but, for as long as this remains the only way to hear the works, I'd be inclined to listen first and ask questions later.
This is a world of which I've only recently become aware but from sampling here and there I'd say the recording quality varies from pretty good to pretty poor, but still listenable when it's all there is.
The downside of this youtube bonanza is that if and when official Lyrita issues of these same broadcasts appear (these are all works that Itter might have been expected to record), part of the potential market might decide that the youtube versions will "do". The Rootham 2nd Symphony, for example, had been floating around youtube for some time before Lyrita issued it (in the same performance).
Another question is how good some of these performances are, though with those conducted by the likes of Groves, Del Mar, Mackerras or Pritchard we should be on safe ground.
