I did not want to reply without having had the chance to listen to Monteux again. In his version, I feel transposed into a marvelous, eolian, mythological world that is very much in style with the subject of the ballet. And Monteux is a very transparent guide.
Boulez is certainly to be admired for his precision and brilliance, the same he displays in Mahler too. But I miss the dream. So we'll have to agree to disagree on this.
