Paul's observations are certainly illuminating and give me food for further thought and reflection.
It is open to us to draw parallels but, as Paul correctly points out, these can unfair and misleading. It is also our right to criticise or condemn the activities of those who lived through an era of such extraordinary brutality and inhumanity. Some of those musicians behaved with extraordinary courage and demonstrated adherence to principle and humanity which was and is wholly admirable. Others behaved differently. How we individually respond to such differences and whether this affects our appreciation of the music they produced are ultimately matters for each of us to decide.
