I found the concerto to be distractingly disjointed. The piano line is forgettable and serves only as a vehicle to showcase the pianist's technical proficiency. Stylistically, the piano line doesn't mesh with the orchestration, and at points the orchestra seems to be playing an entirely different piece, as if the concerto was written in 30-second sections and then hastily cobbled together.
Based on the reviewer's enthusiasm, I gave the concerto a good chance, but in the end I found it to be a generic and aimless piece that I earmarked for future avoidance on my playlists.
