It doesn't surprise me some people will warm to this performance - it's just having listened to, and written about so much Bruckner this year, this particular performance is as far from my ideal as one can be. It doesn't surprise me either that Profil have sat on this for six years before releasing it.
As you say, it's perfectly possible to listen to an identical performance and hear the same things but reach radically different conclusions. I don't think I suggested the entire performance was a write off - perhaps because I focussed so much on the Coda of the Finale it possibly gave that impression. There are always positive things to say about most performances - even in ones which a reviewer/listener probably won't return to again.
