Re: Robert Simpson
While I wouldn't want to discourage more performances of Simpson's music in writing this- far from this- I'd add a recording of his symphony no.4 issued on Dunelm Records in 2012 (not mentioned on robertsimpson.info as of their 2014 update, but mentioned in the Wikipedia article on the symphony) performed by Russell Keable & the Kensington Symphony.
OTOH I used to have a broadcast of Slatkin conducting Ropartz' last symphony (and well, I thought). (Horenstein surprises me less, as his range was considerable anyway. And William Boughton- relative I think of another neglected British symphonist (how often does one hear Rutland's wonderful 2nd symphony "Deirdre" anyway?) - conducts Simpson's cello concerto...
