I am going to contact the RCM with a view to having a look at the quartet music and the string sonatas too. How remarkable that such a substantial body of work - a portion of which at least was well-regarded by the fine musicians you mention (plus Atkins and Elgar) - can have so completely vanished from any kind of knowledge. Wulstan-Atkins in his book adds the hyphen to Brent Smith's name so apologies for perpetuating the error.
I feel rather the same about Harry Farjeon (who at least had some music published) but now is at best a footnote in other's biographies! I got an orchestra I used to conduct to play a couple of his small orchestral pieces and that was their first traceable performance in decades.
