It is a sad although inevitable consequence of the passing of time that I acquire so much new music that I do not have enough time to return to cds I bought a long time ago but have not listened to in years. It is therefore refreshing when someone else waxes lyrical about a particular piece with such conviction! I try to do the same-as you know-for composers whose music has a particular appeal to me.
The French have not done a particularly good job in bringing many of their mid-20th century composers to general attention. Composers like Sauguet and Marcel Landowski suffered in the Boulez era within France and their reputations have never fully recovered.
