In my own experience it is the chorus's contribution to the Prologue that is the most recognisable part of the opera. Sigificantly, it was the only part of Mefistofele that Toscanini chose to record - an absolutely tremendous performance that any admirer of the opera ought to make a point of hearing.
The older DVD performance - from, I think I recall, San Francisco - has a visually stunning account of that same Prologue.
