Re: Boito's "Mefistofele"
In my experience, despite that magnificent, unforgettable Toscanini interpretation of the Prologue, the most stunning part of this opera for me (I've only heard the whole thing once) has always been Margareta's aria "L'altra notte" as sung by Salomea Kostelnicka (there are variant transliterations) back in the early 1900s - one of those recordings (primitive as it is) that haunt you with the feeling that the rest of existence has been obliterated.
