Copland's Third Symphony
Posted by Jeffrey Davis on June 8, 2017, 11:21 am
Good to hear Dan Morgan praising Neeme Jarvi's Chandos recording of Copland's Third Symphony in his excellent comparative survey and review of the new Naxos/Slatking recording. I've always enjoyed that Jarvi version with its unique coupling of Roy Harris's Third Symphony (possibly the two greatest American symphonies - odd that they've never been coupled together before). The original reviewers tended to rubbish the Jarvi version and so it's good to hear an alternative, and in my opinion more accurate, view.
