Nobody pretends that the Western capitalism is perfect but it was and remains considerably more attractive than life in most of the rest of the world, hence the lamentable mass migration of refugees seeking to find a better existence.
Personally, as a very minor British critic, I am frequently astonished by the artistic level of recordings from the Soviet era and have just recommended on MusicWeb one such in the form of an opera from Rimsky Korsakov.
And as far as I am concerned, the British state can continue its surveillance if it helps to guarantee the continuance of our existence free from the terrorism and barbarism exhibited by so-called Islamic State.
But I'm as fed up with the abuses and excesses of capitalism as the next man - hence the volatility of our current political climate and my desire to see rampant greed curbed in favour of providing a decent standard of living for all citizens.
