Unfortunately the person who uploaded the video included the intro' by the ineffable Katie Derham. Having reflected on the fact that the symphony was one of last works composed by Sibelius she then added as her final sentence:
"You know I always find it amazing that Sibelius, who was so active in the late 19th and early 20th century, lived long enough to hear Elvis Presley".
.....and with that statement ringing in one's ear one of the greatest, most profound and moving of 20th century symphonies begins!
Am I not one of many who find Ms Derham's crass, inept, asinine comments totally insufferable?
This particular example is not only vacuous, trite, meaningless drivel it is also, to my mind, actually offensive to the memory of a great composer.
