George Lloyd and Benjamin Frankel

Have just been listening to George Lloyd Symphony No.11 and have to say I am not terribly impressed, it seems to be looking for a theme which it never quite finds, although well orchestrated and marvellously played I am just not convinced by it. I am not terribly convinced by the Frankel Symphonies either, although pleasant to listen to and no you wouldn't realise that both symphonies both use 12 tone rows, the Overture Mayday though is something else, great tuba solo coming from a tuba player. Feel a bit guilty that they just don't really rock my boat but just can't bring myself to find something in them.
