Re: Ghedini Musica da Concerto

After a little research I can enlarge my previous comment. The 1953 performance of Ghedini's Musica da Concerto was not broadcast live but held until 4 June 1954. The Radio Corriere (the Italian Radio Times) does not specifically state it was a première but says the work had been recently written for Giuranna (so he may just possibly have given it a dry run somewhere first). The concert began with Weber's Oberon overture and concluded with Karajan's (in)famous truncated performance of Walton's First Symphony.
Between then and Beecham's London performance, Giuranna played Ghedini's Musica da Concerto at least once more - on 26 october 1956 with the Turin RAI SO under Fulvio Vernizzi.
