Re: Moore Verdi Requiem please !
Many thanks for your kind words, Lee, and I am glad that there is such a consonance in our views of so many recordings. The Celi is a lacuna in my listening, so I have remedied that by ordering it; I admit to having been put off, not by the conductor - whose eccentricities I usually appreciate, especially in Bruckner and also in that recent re-issue of his Mahler-Strauss concert which was a MWI ROTM - but more the soloists, in particular the Rydl wobble you refer to in your excellent review on Amazon. However, I'm certainly now going to give it a try. The Markevitch recording is indeed mono and I have not heard it. I love the Mehta for the quality of the soloists but I grant you it's not the best conducted.
Regarding a mono survey, please, spare me - but all right, I'll put it on my to-do list and see if I have the energy and, more practically, the range of recordings on my shelves to make a proper job of it.
Thank you for taking part in the MusicWeb International Forum.
