I agree with all and second Ralph's usual expert assessment of Currentzis in the recording studio, even if at the moment I'm not sure if his Pathetique is a lot of good ideas strung together, rather than a cogent whole. Still, bland he ain't and whilst I don't think he's the next Carlos Kleiber as claimed by a few lazy media hacks, he could be Stokowski the Second !
Currentzis's Beethoven was to HiP for my tastes - but what really set my teeth on edge during those performances was the mindless clapping and "whoops" between movements. Am I just getting old ?!
