Thank you for the clarification, Dieter - I will confess to being slightly surprised that you prefer the DG recording, based upon your earlier comments, but I always note your postings with great interest ! The later Karajan/DG Bruckner Fourth certainly has more "torque" than the earlier recording on EMI and for many years it was the one I preferred of the two, only switching allegiances quite recently - but there you go !
Talking of recordings which are "so wrong but sound so right", are you (or anyone else, for that matter) familiar with Konwitschny's long forgotten live recording of Bruckner's Second Symphony with the Berlin RSO ? Real podium wizardry on display there !
