I'm principally needing a turntable to work on a recently acquired mint copy of a Rococo LP of the Koussevitzky Boston Rachmaninoff Second Symphony from 1944. Whilst I do have this performance (presumably from the scarce American private CD issue) it's not the best possible sounding of sources, though it's entirely listenable.
The outlay costs of a turntable are possibly significant given I no longer have a huge LP collection (though some unreleased Dobrowen could do with transferring). However, I've weighed those costs against the possibility that someone else's transfer won't necessarily sound quite how I would want it to. I think as a reviewer I accept that it's probably better to do your own work than to criticise that of others.
If you have any ideas do please let me know. Many thanks.
