The eagle eye is correct - I did some sloppy proof reading. It should read 'than the All Hallows organ on the Westminster Abbey recording'. Well spotted.
Brian Wilson, in his review of Signum's 'In chains of Gold: Vol 2', writes of the performance of Byrd's 'Teach me O lord': "The chamber organ on the new Signum sounds more appropriate, too, than the Abbey organ on Hyperion;" Except that what is heard on the Hyperion recording by Westminster Abbey Choir is not the Abbey organ - the disc wasn't even recorded in Westminster Abbey.
Is it the All Hallows organ? Are you sure it is a large organ 'toned down'?
