Leopold Stokowski and the Houston Symphony Orchestra, in their 1958 stereo recording made shortly after Stokowski gave the western hemisphere premiere with this orchestra.
Capitol Records (now subsumed into EMI, of course) produced what was then, and now, hailed as an audiophile spectacular. Stokowski understood Shostakovich well, and this is reflected in his sui generis recording of Eleven.
There are numerous EMI CD incarnations of this, and one would hope that it might be included in future comparisons or compilations.
