Update to Tony Duggan's Synoptic Survey - Mahler's 4th Symphony
Posted by Rob McKenzie on December 13, 2020, 12:14 pm
In his October update, Brian Wilson advises that a 2-CD set of Bruno Walter's NYPO recordings of Mahler's Symphonies Nos. 4 and 5 has disappeared but that the Fourth, together with some songs from Desi Halban, can be streamed from the Naxos Music Library. At the risk of appearing repetitive, may I again reference Sony's 77-CD set of the conductor's Complete Columbia recordings, which contains all this material? Pristine Classics offers an arguably superior transfer of the Fifth Symphony only.
