Mosolov's 5th Symphony
Posted by Jeffrey Davis on January 14, 2021, 8:35 am
Unlike your reviewer (Paul Corfield Godfrey) I really enjoyed Mosolov's 5th Symphony, which I found to be a powerful and memorable work which held my attention throughout. On accasion I was reminded of another unaccountably neglected work, Kabalevsky's epic and moving 4th Symphony as well as Gavril Popov's valedictory 6th Symphony as well as the music of Prokofiev. I do agree with Mr Godfrey, however, about the very fine Harp Concerto and for the potential of the moving 'Nocturne' to stand alone as an independent work.
