By chance I was in my local Sally Army charity shop and found...........the complete Skrowaczewski Bruckner set for £5.00 ! Just so far listened to no. 4 and , wait for it, enjoyed it very much! You may have found the answer to my Bruckner problem, Thanks.
Far be it for me to tread on my esteemed Brucknerian colleague's toes (although I do agree with Ralph's response), but another set you may like to consider for your imminent "conversion" would be the one conducted by Stanislav Skrowaczewski with the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra, that helpfully contains all the 11 symphonies (rather than just the nine of others). It was once available at super-bargain price, but I note it has now been 'promoted' to mid-price at around £5 per CD. However, all the performances are both effortlessly natural and wisely conducted with fine sound, and even if no individual performance would be smuggled away to my desert island, Stan the Man is a more intuitive Brucknerian than many other conductors in this music (including Andris Nelsons), who is able to perform this music without recourse to any obvious 'interpretive' viewpoints (as with Harnoncourt, Rattle, Thielemann ....).
That said, we all have our blind spots - one day, the secrets of Mozart's G Minor symphony will reveal itself to me in the same way that the glories of the others have done for many years already. Many of us believe Mike, that the Celestial Philharmonic will doubtlessly be playing the music on Anton Bruckner as we approach the pearly gates, so never give up !

Hi Ralph
Ok. I am willing to be converted. Can you reccomend a couple of cds ?
The nearest I have come so far has been "quite liking" Nelsons. I suspect because reviews have generally been of the "not really the best Bruckner" kind.
I have tried Rattle (hated it), Karajan, Jochum and Thielemann (boring), Tenterden (dull).
As a guideline, I am passionate about Sibelius, Shostakovich and PMD.
Advise would be appreciated, I am ready fir conversion!!!; I know its me!!!
Mikeh, your antipathy to our beloved Bruckner is most painful to us devotees...but maybe one day you will experience a Pauline conversion and stay away from such distractions (although the composer himself was prone to making chaste but unreciprocated advances to young ladies).
I would prefer the escorts! Oops, did I say that?
Come for the Bruckner; stay for the escorts!
