Some additional Bruckner recordings that are, in my opinion, worth listening to:
0 and 00 - Inbal/Frankfurt RSO (Teldec Ultima)
1. - Barenbiom/Berlin PO -coupled with hard to find Helgoland cantata (Warner Elatus)
2. - You covered this one (Giulini, Tintner)
3. - Bohm/Wiena PO - Magnificent reading (on "must hear" list) coupled with equaly legendary 4 (Double Decca), Celibidache/Munich PO (EMI)
4. - Furtwangler/Wiena PO (Orfeo,DG)
5. - Harnoncourt/Wiena PO (RCA), Furtwangler/Wiena PO (EMI), I agree that Sinopoli is fantastic
6. - Besides Klemperer, Celibidache/Munich PO (EMI)
7. - Furtwangler/Berlin PO (DG), Celibidache/Stuttgart RSO (DG), Rosbaud/SWR SO Baden-Baden und Freiburg (Wergo)
8. - Furtwangler/Wiena PO (44),/Berlin PO (49) (Music&Arts, Testament), Celibidache/Stuttgart RSO (DG), Bohm/Cologne RSO (EMI-Great Conductors)
9. - Furtwangler/Berlin PO (Music&Arts), Mehta/Wiena PO (Decca Legends), Harnoncourt/Wiena PO (RCA) - this one has to be heard to be believed (Wiena brass actually make Chicago run for cover), Chelibidache/Stuttgart RSO,/Munich PO (DG,EMI) - almost fastest and absolutely slowest on record - by the same man, Jochum/Dresden (EMI), Dohnanyi/Cleveland SO (Decca), Giulini/Wiena PO (DG) - this is probably most famous of them all.
Now I'm going to say three things that you may disagree on:
First - I hope that including Reginald Godall in Bruckner survey was some kind of british humor, that I didn't get, because I actually had the misfortune to hear that dreadfull recording.
Second - It's my opinion that Haitink and especially Wand are wastly overrated as Bruckner conductors.
Third -But this is all just my opinion, and as my good friend Harry Callahan said: " Opinion is like an a..., everybody has one.
best wishes
