It was released by Tomato and documented a production at the American Music Theater Festival in 1987. It is an excellently documented 2-CD production with introductory texts, quotes from Partch, libretto, instrument descriptions and a few photos. It's really something else, man...  Post a Response

No matter how much you know (or think you know!), there's always something you don't know tucked teasingly out of sight just around the corner. Even Philip Blackburn, when I queried whether there was a recording of the complete work, didn't mention this one - so thankyou very much for this invaluable slice of information, Martin! It gets even better - I've had a quick scout around, and discovered that this Tomato recording is still available! I mean, like, FAR OUT man!!  Post a Response

I've just checked, and Philip Blackburn did indeed mention this recording to me, but he wasn't sure whether it is still available. However, because of an unfortunate spelling mistake, probably allied to the long-term consequences of a mis-spent youth, I failed to make the proper connection. Sorry.  Post a Response

It'd be nice to know who picked up Tomato's masters - somebody must have them, surely? After a wee bit of chasing around, I am now the proud owner of a copy of the Tomato recording of Revelation in the Courthouse Park. I might quibble about the very opening, which largely misses the flesh-crawling eeriness of the extract on Enclosure 5, but once past those opening couple of minutes, it is nothing short of superb! OK, so now does anyone know of a DVD of this?!  Post a Response
