I assume the BBC are referring to the fact that at least two of them lived and composed in England for a considerable time. The Irish born Stanford spent, say, 80% of his life and carried out virtually all of his composing in England. At least, to my knowledge, Tippett, Alwyn, Rubbra and G. Bush were born in England. |
