I wonder if you know the Ogden recording from 1972? I can't remember it being witty, exactly, but I did prefer it to the Fingerhut recording someone once made me a cassette transfer of. There are wonderfully lucid performances of the Variations (also both witty & powerful) and the Prélude by Yvonne Léfébure on Solstice, by the way, though I don't know if they are still available.  Post a Response

I checked several libraries in the hope of a copy but in the end gave up. Léfébure is someone I greatly admire and didn't know of her recordings - I am taken by your description of her perfomances so....the hunt is on. Jonathan Woolf  Post a Response
