Stokowski, Brilliant Classics Posted by Donald Clarke on December 3, 2006, 5:03 pm 12.216.182.250 The Stokowsky Beethoven 'Pastoral' by Stokowski and the NBCSO reviewed this week, complete with the talk illustrated by babbling brook etc, was available in the USA on RCA in the 1950s. I used to take it out of the library, and I loved it. Musicweb could do us all a favour by making all the Brilliant Classics available. I've been searching for the 3-disc set of Rachmaninoff's choral music and can't find it anywhere.  Post a Response

If the Rachmaninov set your require is as reviewed http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2002/Sept02/Rach_vespers_Brilliant.htm I can get that. The postage is almost as much as the discs! It would cost you £17.50 for the USA. Just in case you are interested I have added it to my ordering site http://www.musicweb-international.com/Brilliant_Classics/index.htm#6215 I can order any set available in the Uk. The difficulty is estimating the postage costs but let me know of anything you want and I will see what I can do. The big shostakovich box is a bargain.  Post a Response

It doesn't come in and after 45 days the order is auomatically cancelled. I now have it on order at Prelude Records in Norwich, where I used to live. It beats me why Brilliant Classics are not more easily obtainable in the USA. I saw a nice selection of them in Montreal a couple of years ago.  Post a Response
