Haigh Marshall Posted by Elizabeth Challenger on January 3, 2007, 11:59 am 217.196.232.225 It is not often that I choose to praise Classic FM and their choice of English Music. Yet I have to hand it to them on the performance last night of Haigh Marshall's beautiful Elegy. This is a work that well deserves its place in the English String Music repertoire along side more famous examples by Bridge, Ireland, RVW and Britten. It is available on ASV White Line WHL 2179. It has been reviewed on MusicWeb. It would be interesting to know what other gems are in this composer's opus list. It appears that he was the conductor of an orchestra and himself a string player.
