Schiff on Beethoven's Sonatas Posted by Tim Perry on January 21, 2007, 12:38 am 220.101.156.92 Andras and piano, that is, rather than Heinrich and cello. I stumbled across a fascinating lecture series on the Guardian website in which Andras Schiff journeys through the Beethoven piano sonatas - a lengthy voyage indeed! It is well worth downloading and putting on your iPod/listening to on your computer/burning to CD (as mp3 files) to play through your DVD player. UK-based readers may already be aware of this generous set of downloads, but I thought it might be worth running this up the flag pole for others who, like me, live elsewhere. I heard Schiff perform the last 3 sonatas in symph hall, birmingham in dec 2006, but without any introductions. In fact he played the 3 works in very dim lighting (for atmosphere) and with no breaks between them - remarkable! Can't wait to hear his thoughts. Bet amny others are unaware of these gems.
