It is my favourite recording of this work and was my introduction to the Bax symphonies. In the 70's my university (Lancaster) had a copy of the LP and I spent hours in the library listening to that work instead of getting on with my historical studies.I would love to see it on CD despite critical disapproval of the performance. ............................. I am afraid I have to tell you there is no truth in this. Adrian Farmer informs me that Lyrita have no plans to record more Bax Symphonies and there have not been any discussions with Sony/BMG over Ted Downes's Bax 3. Len Mullenger  Post a Response

However, it is clearly just at the idea stage. Unfortunately Lyrita were bombarded by congratulatory emails from Bax fans asking for release dates etc. All my fault of course and I apologise to all concerned for the misunderstanding. Anyway, I have been duly told off by Lyrita, who have asked me to curb my "natural enthusiasm". Sorry! The email said that Lyrita were "already investigating the possibility" of releasing that recording on Lyrita but had no idea as to whether it would be possible. I am writing this because Len's assertion that "there is no truth" in the suggestion implies that I had invented the story. This is untrue. I did not invent the story but may have unwittingly given the impression that a release was definitely forthcoming although I did quite clearly use the phrase "tentative steps" in my original message.  Post a Response
