I loved this very evocative and suggestive review, Anne. Particularly interesting to me are your words on dodecophony: "The beauty of the twelve tone system is that it can float magical, shifting colours of its own, as if the indeterminate tones are shimmering and diaphanous." Yes indeed; no system is there for its own sake; the beast has an end in view, so to speak. The last word recalls the philosophy of Jean Gebser, for whom art, like perception, is passing beyond the era of perspective (with which tonality may be equated) to achieve a new stage of culture, which he attempted to adumbrate with that very word "diaphanous." - I really wish I had been at this wonderful concert, presented so imaginatively by you, particularly for the 3 Bs.
