That is not the case: the original recordings appeared on an Italian label which explains the word 'pianoforte' which is just the same as the English 'piano', meaning the modern concert grand. Pietro Spada definitely doesn't use a historical instrument.

It was, as you say, a standard piano. I'm surprised to hear that the word 'pianoforte' suggests 'fortepiano', but I take your word for it and won't make the same mistake again (I hope).

If the normal English word is 'piano', then the use of 'pianoforte' suggests there is something different about this instrument. In Belgium the Dutch-language classical channel always talks about 'pianoforte' if they mean the 'fortepiano'. And on a German site - it was JPC I think - the Italian word 'pianoforte' was also once interpreted as 'Hammerklavier', the common German word for 'fortepiano'. So there is every reason to be aware of a possible misunderstanding.

And as for 'clavier'...
