Stravinsky ballets on Naxos review Posted by Todd Schurk on May 4, 2012, 3:28 am Paul Corfield Godfrey in his review of the Stravinsky/N.Y. Phil. ballets disc states that the orchestra in Stravinsky's later stereo remakes is the N.Y. Phil under another name (Columbia Symphony). This is incorrect. The stereo remakes were recorded in Hollywood/L.A. with a group mostly made up of L.A. Philharmonic members and studio musicians,much like Bruno Walter's "Indian Summer" recordings made circa the same era.

Re: Stravinsky ballets on Naxos review Posted by Todd Schurk on May 4, 2012, 3:46 am, in reply to "Stravinsky ballets on Naxos review" I would like to amend my original post to correct the record (pun intended) as two of the three ballets (Firebird and Petrouchka) were recorded on the West Coast with that version of the "Columbia Symphony" but indeed the "Rite" was an East Coast venture with the Eastern "Columbia Symphony" probably members of the NY Phil.

I said that "these recordings" (by which I meant the ones currently under review) were made with a pseudonymous New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Apologies for any confusion that may have been caused!
