Arthur Benjamin

Etudes Improvisees for piano.
Rooting through the scores in the Lyrita Archive housed with us at Wyastone, I came across this piece in what at first sight appears to be the composer's manuscript. There are 10 numbered etudes, but only 7 were recorded by Lamar Crowson for Lyrita, the missing 3 are emphatically crossed out in the score. I have been unable to track down any published version of this work to make a comparison. There appears to be no 'Benjamin' scholar that I can turn to for clarification. Any thoughts?

Hello Adrian, I'm afraid I have no special knowledge, but thought I would point out that Crowson recorded 8 etudes, not 7. According to the liner notes: "As originally planned by Benjamin, the Etudes Improvisees was to be a work in ten brief movements, but only the eight movements here recorded were completed and approved by the composer." https://www.chandos.net/chanimages/Booklets/LE2109.pdf
