Hello,
My uncle may have died on LST 376, or LST 314, the other transport ship that was sunk early in the morning on 6/9/1944. Both ships were struck by torpedos from German Schnellboote (fast boats) from Cherbourg. From what I understand, the 314 went down quickly and many were lost. The 376 stayed afloat for a while and was later scuttled by it's destroyer escort. I am trying to gather any information which might fill in the pieces of what happened that fateful morning. Please contact me if you have any information or pictures.
Thanks
John
