The answer to your question on how the D-1 bunker was taken at the Vierville Draw is in
Steven Ambrose book D- Day page 422 and 423 .
And how Brigider General Norman D. Cota personaly lead the attack up the draw to show the men that it was possible to make it and live. In more detail is the book Division Commander by Robert A. Miller the biography of Major General Norman D . " Dutch" Cota .
