He was awarded the European Victory Ribbon with two stars and the Asiatic Pacific Victory Ribbon with one star. After WWII, Mike graduated from Columbia University in New York City. He was the owner of the I. Mike Coen Insurance Agency in Menlo Park Shopping Center, Edison, for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was an accomplished private aircraft pilot and loved his years of fishing and scuba-diving in the Bahamas. He was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Green Cohen. He is survived by his loving daughter and her husband, Linda and Bill Barry of Edison; his cherished grandsons, Jason of Melrose, Mass., Max of Chicago, Ill., and David of Edison; his close brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Judy Cohen of Bayonne; a niece and nephew; and his devoted companion, Larissa Berishvili.

Israel Meyer Cohen, known as "Mike" of Monroe, formerly of Colonia and Cat Island, Bahamas, passed away yesterday, April 27, 2005, with his family at his side. He was 83.
