as they say , "you can't please everyone". To be honest gentleman, I probably would have picked different material myself had it been my call, but this was little joe's call; having said that , this material is new to a lot of younger generation who don't even know who tierra tejana is . A lot of these groups are no longer recording and alot of that material can no longer be bought. Little Joe wanted to give homage to his peers of his generation of artists buy redoing some of their most known hits. In my humble opinion , this was very unselfish of him. He wanted to give homage to a time when all these songs were being played; a time when the music was pure chicano. Belive me when I tell you that if little joe had wanted to just highlight himself, there are plenty of other songs he could have done; and by the way , this is not the last cd we intend to do. we have plans to do one with he and his brother johnny (all new material), and some other projects that we will talk about in the future.
Look guys, I think this cd was well done and well worth the price you paid for it regardless of the material. What is more important, is that we need to continue recording our style of music for our children's childrens sake. Some of the groups that you have mentioned , Bandango, Cruizers, etc. our all friends of mine, but they and other new developing groups have to start doing more work. You cannot sustain a market in dire need of material buy doing one cd every 4 or 5 years. I myself have completed 7 in the last 2 years and I will have a new one out by the end of nov. Believe me when I say it is not easy to record cds of the caliber of "chicanisimo", for a lot of reasons. MONEY, being one, but God willing, we will keep trying to do our best to keep our style of music alive.
