Estimado Ramiro,
Just so that you can better understand why our title "All That Jazz" is appropriate and tells a story of our true identity. Since day one we T. F.
have laid out a blueprint of music that is our own.
Although not totally dedicated to being songwriters and composers of Ranchero songs we have set many precedents that no-one else did. Our arrangements, musicianship, our style, our sound is our own. We neither copy or try to be like.
The title "All That Jazz" tells a story and most every musician and some journalists can relate and understand the title immediately.....most of them love the title because they know our history and our achievements during our time in the music business. The architects of our book have set many
accomplishments that have not yet been equaled.
Like for example one of the original members of the "La Familia Band" which was actually Tortilla Factory wrote and arranged "Las Nubes"....it wasn't Little Joe.....La Malagueña which is taught and analyzed in music theory courses in different American Universities was also written by one of our original members..........Everything we write and arrange has jazz overtones because that's who we are and we've always been. We do not pretend to be anything other than what we've always been.
Tortilla's new album is an extension of who we are and being true to ourselves is the only way our book will survive the ages. Just like the book that El Mariachi Vargas has ........it's never changed in style and high musical standards .......because the best writers and arrangers
have contributed to their book.........so has our book. It has been written by some of the very best minds in the music biz.
So you see........"All That Jazz"........tells a true story of who we are....we are a true Texas/Chicano Original....... and right now as I am writing you one of the best Lead Trumpet players in the world....A young Chicano musician from the west coast is writing an arrangement for our next album which will make a very strong musical statement in the entire music biz not just Texas.
