The greatest Trumpet player of my generation has just died, "Freddie Hubbard"
As a young and aspiring trumpet player I had many influences like Rafael Mendez,
Harry James, Louie Armstrong "Satchmo", Al Hirt, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, and our own Mr. "Pepe Compean" whom I consider the father of all Tejano Trumpet players. Freddie Hubbard had no peers when he was at the height of his carreer..........He was the simply the greatest........He was what is considered in the artistic world.........A "Piccasso".....A "MichaelAngelo"
I took my cue from Freddie and would even spend up to four or five hours analyzing his solos and also transcribing them to study his genius......
I am ready to continue my trek with Tortilla and I will eventually take one of his works and write and arrange it as he had such a deep and inspiring effect on my artistic carreer........Love you Freddie.........Ham
