I have had several pmu foals and have also run a "foal kindergarten" for those who wanted their foal to have some halter training before heading home. My best advice is to be patient. It is best if you have a small enclosure to keep your foal in at first so that you can catch them. If you put them out on pasture you may not catch them again. I would put ours in the round pen and then go out and sit in a lawn chair after I put down hay for them. They got used to me being present. I would quietly walk up and pet them on the shoulder or hip until they were accustomed to having me close by. I found that within a couple of days they were all quite friendly.
