hey there keny. i am no expert but i think that in the warm weather the smaller jacks are very lively. but all the fish will be feeding to fatten up for a long cold winter. but the trouble in fishing for pike when the weather has been hot for a while and their has been no rain their is very little oxegen in the water, so after you have played the fish and landed it, it is knackerd and can take days for it to recover and may be the result of it not seeinbg the winter through. especially if they are a larger pike (7 lb +). so i myself try and hold on for winter for the benefit of the pike.
i went for my 1st piking session to days and had my 1st of the season, it was a 6 pound pike, im hoping for bigger in the near future.
hope that answers your question
tight lines
