hi, depending on which kind of water your wanting to fish i.e river,stillwater, using a basic freerunning legered deadbait set up on a bite alarm with indicator you can't go wrong. try fishing your bait tight up to reeds or lillies if there are any, otherwise if your fishing a river try the slack waters around weirs and the inside of tight bends. baitwise start on seabaits there easier to get hold of; half makerel or whole sprat tend to be winners. I tend to try a diffrent bait on each rod trying to find which they prefer. remember what tactics you used to catch each fish i,e weather,bait,swim so you get to build up knowledge about pike!! tightlines...........
