Thanks Kate.
Your story and many like yours are what I refer to as "spiritual abuse" by an individual or group who wants nothing more then to build a kingdom of flesh on the name of Jesus Christ.
And they will tell you how gifted you are, that God will strengthen you blah blah blah... and fleece the sheep to build that kingdom of flesh.
First fruits they say, off the top, a good measure pressed down and shaken, render unto God what is God's... and if any individual bothers to search out those scriptures and see the TRUTH of what is written, OMG! you are an infidel! how dare you question the word and the man of GOD! LOL!
They actually put a letter out to all the church members when we left, they had to, we were on the board! Why would Burt and Char just up and resign and leave in less then a week!
We started to think for ourselves!! Heaven forbid that we would ACTUALLY take the word of God and READ it and have revelations apart and different then what the Pastor preached!
Like in Timothy when it says if you are not meeting the needs of your own household you are an infidel! What were we thinking! LOL!! :D
Or that the Tithe that Abram paid was a war custom and given to a Canaanite High Priest? And that a tithe was on all that was cursed in Genesis, from the land, the cattle and the fruit... LOL! what were we thinking!
And they always, always, always have to demonize you when you leave to comfort one another.
Very small God they have in my opinion if Satan was able to take a Christian away from God.
