if anyone knew and understood what it means to be chosen, they would all run from it instead of wanting to be chosen/elected:
the chosen are the ones who volunteered in heaven, before God even put Man on earth, to be the ones to deliver the LAW to mankind:
they didn't know what it would mean even though Jesus later explained it all by saying if one wanted to be greatest in the Kingdom of heaven, he would have to be SERVANT OF ALL: Jesus said the higher ones in the Kingdom were not like the gentiles where the best is reserved for them, but actually these are the ones who lay down their lives for their fellows:
There is another parable where the eldest son said he would go and do what the father wanted, but he didn't: THE YOUNGER ONE Said he didn't want to go, but he did in the end: Jesus asked who then did the fathers will? The answer is of course, the ONE WHO DID what God wanted, and not the one who said they would, but didn't:
