WHEN: May 29, 1999. WHERE: Minsk Sports Palace in Minsk, Belarus. WHAT HAPPENED? -- Fifty-four people, mostly teen-aged girls, were killed after leaving a Mango Mango concert. The accident happened when a rush of concert-goers hurrying into a subway underpass slipped and fell down a staircase, causing a deadly crush.
